Parents teach their children not to put forks into power sockets because they know what the consequences are for doing so even if the children don't understand why at the time.

Similarly, I believe the questions raised in the article demonstrates a lack of understanding in consequences and the causes of those consequences.

In the section titled "4. DID YOU REALLY CHOOSE TO READ THIS ARTICLE?" is the following quote:

"You might object that modern physics tells us that there is a certain amount of fundamental randomness in the universe..."

I find it strange how in an age where science and technology are so heavily studied that such notions as randomness, luck, and probability are accepted as a reasonable answer!

Does not science strive to uncover universal truths where they hold true independently of time and geographical boundaries, and is repeatable by anyone?

I believe that what science and philosophy are offering at the moment is not good enough to provide solutions to the problems we face today.

Current science and philosophy may not be good enough for providing solutions to todays' problems, but we must consider whether people are ready for other means and methods of solutions. 200 years down the track and there is still a struggle for traditional Aborigines to adapt to rules of the Western society. If people are not ready, then perhaps the best they have to work with is what they know.

Yes, it's rather hard to for methods and solutions to be effective if we are not accepting of them let alone following them. Here's a previous post about this.

And yet, the questions raised in the article point towards our not knowing. I wrote about this in a previous blog here.

I wonder if we have the luxury of time to learn the hard way...
